A new paper from the Muon-catalyzed Fusion Experiment (MuFusE) details a large-volume diamond anvil cell designed to compress and heat deuterium-tritium mixtures for higher-pressure and higher-temperature fusion measurements.
The apparatus maintained a 19.2 mm³ sample at liquid density, reached 933 MPa and 400 K, and safely managed a 25 Ci tritium inventory. The work establishes a new target platform for precision muon-catalyzed fusion research.
